A Different World

Where's love in this maze of understanding?
Where's innocence; have we lost everything?
Where is the laughter that you and I shared,
Where have we come away to, what's been spared?

This quagmire of reason is not our world;
This world is of violence, of rocks and scald.
Our dream of happiness is lost today,
From those times of joy, we've come a long way.
Life doesn't bring bliss to us any more;
Our wings were clipped long back, now we don't soar.

You and I have walked many miles together,
But have we been able to know each other?
You and I have loved, but have been indifferent,
We've failed to wipe the past, or erase its dent.
